I always use a sixth to a quarter of a tin at night, I think that they munch it, but found that it pays not to strike too soon with these big baits and wait untill they actualy move off with it....

No real answer to this. I have fished standard size baits 3/4 inch without a touch then immediately had fish after changing to a 3" chunk......or a 1/4inch piece. Ring the changes is the key.
